    Basic Driving

1. Physical and Mental Condition

Apart from driving skills and safety techniques, Safe Driving depends on driver’s physical and mental condition. It is important to understand that bad physical and mental condition leads to aggressive driving behavior which affects your safety and the safety of others by making wrong estimations and decisions. Read carefully several “DO NOT” driving rules that may enchase your safety.

DO NOT
(a) Drive when you’re sick or injured,
(b) Drive after alcohol consumption,
(c) Drive after taking any drug or medication,
(d) Drive when you’re tired,
(e) Drive when you’re angry or in bad mood.

2.Vehicle Mechanical Condition

Before starting your car engine, there are several of mechanical checks and procedures that must be performed in order to enhance your and other road user safety.

(a) Make sure that your car was / is mechanically inspected by an authorized M.O.T station,
(b) Check tire pressure, treat and condition,
(c) Check wheels suspension,
(d) Check oil pressure,
(e) Check Radiator water level,
(f)  Check engine sparks.

3.Vehicle Interior/Exterior and Indicators Condition

img Car Interior/Exterior and control indicators condition is an essential  factor for improving your road visibility avoiding any road hazards  that may occur during driving. It is important to use all available  control indicators to see and be seen by other road users.





(a) Clean front, rear and side windows,
(b) Clean Headlights and Mirrors,
(c) Check and ensure that wipers, headlights, highbeams, taillights, stoplights and direction indicator signals are functioning properly,
(d) Secure any loose objects.

4.Seat Position

Proper sit position increases road visibility and car control. With the use of proper sit position and seat belt, you can reduce the risk of serious injuries that may occur during a collision.

(a) Sit in a straight upright position and adjust your steering wheel so that your elbows are slightly bent,
(b) Adjust headrest height so that your head position and height is horizontally aligned with the middle of the headrest,
(c) Adjust your seat in order to be able to see over the steering wheel and approximately five meters in front of the vehicle,
(d) Adjust your seat so that your feet can easily reach clutch, break and accelerator pedals,
(e) Leave enough space between car seat and steering wheel.
